Have you seen An Inconvenient Truth? I'd be really interested to see what your take is on the documentary. Regardless of whether or not you subscribe to the theory of global warning, it is a discussion that needs participation.

While I'm still thinking over my own opinion of the issue, I do have some critiques of the movie. I thought the movie did a great job of presenting visual aids and comparative photography. I think that Al Gore did a great job with presenting this as best as possible while sparing us the scientific jargon that we all understand all so well.

I am a bit bothered by the shots that he takes at the current White House administration. While the majority of the jabs are subtle, they are jabs nonetheless. I think it's tacky to take subtle shots at people in an educational documentary. Rather than pointing out where you have a problem with the way you see other people doing their job, simply propose what you think is the better plan. The fact you are presenting a different plan already insinuates that you disagree with the current plans and policies.

I was also disappointed that he didn't identify the sources of his statistics and findings beyond the generalities. I gotta know from where these numbers and graphs are coming. When people don't identify their sources it reeks of manipulation.

So there you go. That's a couple of my thoughts. Feel free to share your own. I would encourage that everyone sees the movie regardless of opinion. It's a quite thought-provoking 93 minutes that makes you think...and as you know, I'm a big fan of thinking.
